The United Way of Porter County, in conjunction with the Indiana Nonprofit Resource Network, is hosting an informative workshop on how to reduce poverty in our community.
Bridges Out of Poverty will be held on Thursday, October 6th, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Ivy Tech Community College (Auditorium) - 3100 Ivy Tech Drive in Valparaiso. Cost is $35.00 per person and includes lunch and materials. *
Based on the book, Bridges Out of Poverty: Strategies for Professionals and Communities, this workshop is designed for audiences of employers, government, law enforcement, community organizations, counselors, health care and social service providers.
This workshop will provide both the social service provider and the community member key lessons in dealing with individuals from poverty. Topics include increasing awareness of the differences in economic cultures and how those differences affect opportunities for success.
