I have been a member of the Porter County Sheriff’s Department Merit Board for almost 12 years. Our job on the Merit Board is to assist and monitor the administration in the hiring, promoting, and disciplining of Porter County Sheriff’s officers.
I am an educator without a police background, nevertheless, I have continually been impressed with the quality of the officers on our department. Their dedication to their dangerous jobs protecting our citizens is impressive. They compete hard in promotion interviews and they train and work hard. Most are raising families in our community and many are continuing their education at local colleges to become even better police officers.
I wish all citizens had the opportunity to see the positive accomplishments and personal improvement of every officer I have come to know over the years. Porter County police officers consistently exhibit professionalism and dedication to their profession which is a testament to all of them as well as their administrative team. I am very proud of the service they provide to my community.
