Christopher Kennedy Lawford Speaking March 16 at Frontline Foundations Charity Dinner

Frontline-FoundationsChristopher Kennedy Lawford, New York Times best-selling author on recovery addiction and nephew of the late John F. Kennedy, is coming to Valparaiso University on March 16 to speak at a dinner event for Frontline Foundations, Inc.

Lawford is the best-selling author of Symptoms of Withdrawal and Moments of Clarity and has just released a third book Recover to Live: Kick Any Habit, Manage Any Addiction. Currently he serves with the White House Office on Drug Control Policy, the World Health Organization and the Canadian Center on Substance Abuse. Lawford was also named Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Office on Drugs & Crime to promote activities supporting drug treatment, care, and recovery and holds a master’s in clinical psychology from Harvard Medical School. He has been in recovery for more than 26 years.

“Frontline is thrilled to have such a distinguished guest as Mr. Lawford to be our signature speaker,” Frontline Executive Director Amber Hensell-Hicks said. “We know he will deliver a powerful message of community awareness and inspiration that addiction doesn’t have to be a life sentence.”

Frontline Foundations is a substance abuse treatment facility with offices in Chesterton and Valparaiso that exclusively treats young adults ages 18-28. “Drug and alcohol abuse is almost three times higher with young adults,” said Hensell-Hicks. “Proceeds from the Lawford event will go towards scholarships that will provide recovery opportunities to young men and women who are economically disadvantaged.”

Tickets for the dinner are $40 each or if purchasing an entire table seating eight, the tickets are only $35. The opportunity to sponsor a table is $750. The deadline for purchasing tickets is Monday, March 11.

Lawford is no stranger to drawing a crowd. His father is Hollywood actor Peter Lawford. Following in his father’s footsteps, Lawford, 57, has enjoyed some success in the world of television and film, including working for his former cousin-in-law Arnold Schwarzenegger, appearing in two of his films, including “Terminator 3”.
