ValpoNEXT Announces Last Call for Community Input

valpo-nextThere’s one more opportunity to weigh in on your ideas for Valparaiso’s future in the ValpoNEXT visioning process! To participate, complete a simple online survey at http://www.valponext.org/#getinvolved by June 27.

“The survey is the same one presented at the recent Community Summit and we want everyone to have an opportunity to weigh in,” said Matt Evans, co-chair of the ValpoNEXT initiative. “There are so many great ideas that it’s hard for some to choose their favorites, but choosing the top priorities is what the ValpoNEXT visioning initiative is designed to accomplish,” he said.

The online survey follows on the heels of the successful Community Summit in May, attended by more than 200 people of all ages and interests. “We’ve been thrilled to see so many people interested in Valparaiso’s future. The summit gathered people from teenagers to seniors, representing different backgrounds and income levels – all sharing their ideas for the coming decades in our city,” said Elizabeth Lynn, co-chair of ValpoNEXT. Like the summit, the online survey invites people to share their top priorities in questions like “In 20-30 years, how would you like Valparaiso to be described? As a cultural mecca? As the friendliest and most welcoming city in the Midwest? As having the very best schools? As the most civically engaged city of its size?” These are just some of the options that the ValpoNEXT survey will ask you to consider in order to help our city create a plan for coming decades.

The ValpoNEXT visioning process will result in a specific implementation plan for Valparaiso’s next 20 to 30 years. The plan will be completed by this fall.
