Valpo Police Chief Thanks All for Participating in National Night Out

valpopoliceOn August 5, neighborhoods across Valparaiso joined together with the Valparaiso Police Department to show support against crime in the community. A total of ten neighborhoods participated in this year’s National Night Out. Neighborhoods participating this year included Pine Creek Subdivision, Essex Park, Campbell Meadows Subdivision, Lexington Green Subdivision, Hawthorne Subdivision, Meridian Woods, Keystone Commons, Mistwood Subdivision, the 300 block of Parkside and the 3500 block of Oak Grove.

Each location had a great turnout. Numerous police officers, and police officer’s family members visited the many events. Police cars with their lights and sirens activated and K-9’s Cairo and Femmy stole the show at most locations. Neighborhoods participating shared ice cream, hot dogs and many homemade dishes with visiting police officers. The Valparaiso Target Store was a corporate sponsor and provided back to school material to many of the children participating.

“This event was a huge success due to the huge participation by community members in each neighborhood. We have a lot of great people in our community and it’s these people that keep Valparaiso a great place. Thank you to everybody that participated,” explained Police Chief Michael Brickner.
