Take your waste reduction knowledge to the next level and make a difference!

Porter County residents and those who work in Porter County interested in learning more about waste prevention, recycling, composting, and meeting others who have similar interests can register for this comprehensive eight-week program and learn how to reduce their impact on the planet.

The course will feature guest speakers and field trips that will help students gain environmental knowledge beyond the blue bin.

The program begins Thursday, Sept. 11!

Public compost sites closed this weekend
The Valparaiso compost site, 2150 W. Lincolnway, and the Boone Grove compost site, 546 South 400 West, will be closed to the public Saturday through Monday, Aug. 30 to Sept. 1, for the Labor Day weekend holiday.

The Valparaiso site will reopen at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2. Regular operating hours for the Valpo site are Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Boone Grove compost site will reopen at noon Wednesday, Sept. 3. Regular operating hours for the Boone Grove site are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, noon to 5 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
