This campaign assists the Y in providing financially assisted memberships and enriching the lives of many families, children and individuals. The Y is committed to strengthening our community by giving all people opportunities to learn, thrive and grow.

"With a campaign goal of $215,000 to address the need in our community, it’s so important we have strong campaign leadership, and we are excited that Dawn and Dave Collins are returning this year as co-chairs. With a successful 2014 Annual Campaign, Dave and Dawn truly know how to keep the momentum moving in reaching goals. It is volunteers like Dawn and Dave, and many other dedicated members, who share our mission and have the passion to make meeting our goal a reality,” said Bob Wanek, Valparaiso Family YMCA CEO.

‘Be A Superhero: Help Us Help Kids’ is this year’s campaign theme. “Volunteer campaigners will solicit the generous support of the community in reaching the goal we’ve set for the campaign to meet ongoing needs,” said Donna Demko, Annual Giving Director for the Valparaiso Family YMCA.

The Valparaiso Family YMCA expects to exceed $300,000 in 2014 for child care and membership scholarships for low-income families, special needs and/or handicapped individuals, as well as memberships to more than 14 area group homes and human service agencies; such as: Opportunity Enterprises, The Caring Place, Hilltop House, Porter-Starke, and Moraine House. Funds raised enable these agencies to bring their clients to the YMCA, at no cost, to enjoy the physical, as well as the psychological benefits of fitness, exercise, and socialization.
