Recycled Art Show Seeks Entries

recycling-waste-reduction-district-of-porter-countyCalling all creatives! The Recycling & Waste Reduction District of Porter County is seeking entries into the first ever Re-Think Art Competition and Exhibition.

Anyone aged 15 and older is invited to submit works of art made from 100 percent recycled materials to compete in a juried exhibition across Northwest Indiana from March 22 through April 16. The works will ultimately be displayed for a popular vote at the 2015 Northwest Indiana Earth Day 10th Anniversary Celebration on April 18. Cash prizes will be awarded.

Artists can enter up to three pieces in one of two categories: Youth, ages 15 through 18; and adult, ages 19 and over. The deadline to submit entries is Feb. 15. Entrants will be notified of acceptance by Feb. 28.

“We hope the exhibition will help the public rethink their vision of art,” said Therese Davis, executive director of the district which is the organizer of the Earth Day Celebration. “Materials that can be used include anything reclaimed, reused, recovered, second-hand, salvaged, or anything un-new.”

Details are available on the district’s website, www.ItMeansTheWorld.org, or by calling Therese Davis, 219-465-3815.
