“This is an inter-generational event is for older adults and young children. Every year, the Willows have this Trick or Treating event with the kids. I love just seeing all the families and the kids interact. This is an atmosphere that my staff and myself try to build,” Enrichment Lifestyle Director, Toby Stigdon said.

This year, the event was extra special because Amazon John and his not so scary, scary animals visited and let the guests and residents interact with some not so ordinary animals.

Animals who made an appearance included: snakes, crows, foxes, spiders, frogs and many more. The residents and kids got the chance to handle some of the animals while also learning about where they come from and how they live in the wild.

The room was decorated with streamers and the tables were lined with pumpkin baskets for the kids. After the show, the kids collected candy from the residents.

“I am really excited for this event. My favorite part is seeing the kids. I love seeing their costumes. I am also anxious to see the animals that are coming today,” Resident, John Kapnes said.

The residents even dressed up with the kids and showed their Halloween spirit. You could tell that everyone was excited for the show and for this special occasion.

“Seeing the smiles on the residents faces because of the kids is my favorite part. They just love the kids no matter how big or little and it is worth the smiles,” Environmental Service Director Kimberly Vonholtz, said.

Whether the residents had family come or not, they all enjoyed a fun day that put everyone in a good mood. The Life Care Center of the Willows strives to hold events such as this one to engage the residents while also providing families and friends with a fun atmosphere. The staff hopes to continue on with these traditions and make the Care Center a great place for people to stay.
