The Northwest Indiana Quality of Life Council’s next Quarterly Forum will address the issue of Race and Racism in Northwest Indiana NWI-Quality-of-Life-Council

Draft Program

Part I           Introduction
Will include a summary of the state of Race in Northwest Indiana, as reflected in the 2008 Indicators Report

Part II          Best Practices

  • S.T.A.N.D. (Socially Together and Naturally Diverse), a program for students at Merrillville High School
  • Study Circles – what they are followed by three teachers from Merrillville Schools describing their experience and how they do things differently in the classroom as a result of that experience
  • Thriving Neighborhood Program in Merrillville, featuring Tony Lux, Superintendent of Merrillville Schools and residents of a subdivision describing their experience and getting to know their neighbors

Part III         Panel discussion and question and answer from the audience.
