Keep the Fire Burning on Porter County Give Day

Porter-County-Give-Day-2013Campfire for kids funds outdoor learning experiences

On Wednesday, November 7, Dunes Learning Center will host a "Campfire for Kids," coinciding with the Porter County Community Foundation's GIVE Day event. For 24 hours, each donation made at www.portercountygiveday.org will add a log to a fire benefiting environmental learning experiences for local kids.

Dunes Learning Center is an independent non-profit organization located inside Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. This year, more than 2000 Porter County students will participate in hands-on education and stewardship programs led by DLC staff. Immersed in nature, concepts learned in the classroom come to life as students explore the unique ecology of the dunes.

On GIVE Day, parents, teachers and friends can help keep these valuable experiences accessible and affordable by feeding a fire that will burn for thousands of kids. To keep the light going, visit www.portercountygiveday.org starting at 12:01 a.m. on November 7 and GIVE to Dunes Learning Center. Donations will be matched from a pool of more than $75,000, multiplying the impact.

For fireside updates throughout the day, follow Dunes Learning Center on Facebook, Twitter or their website at duneslearningcenter.org.
