Friends & Legends Reception

The Valpo Parks Foundation's recognition of service awards are being celebrated on Thursday, May 8, recognizing Bruce Berner, the Malasto Legends Award recipient, and Mary Kramer Leonard, the Legendary Friend Award recipient. This casual event features hors d' oeuvres, a cash bar, a jazz quartet and time spent with friends and colleagues. Please RSVP to bjohnson@valpo.us or by calling 219.462.5144.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi for Health is the focus of Sessions One and Two that take place on Saturdays at 10 a.m., March 29 through May 24 at Village Park Enrichment Center. The programs are accessible for just about anyone; they are easy-to-learn, safe and aim to empower people to improve health and wellness. Price for each 8 week session is $80.

Budding Artists Adult Enrichment

Learn the basics of various artistic mediums at the Village Park Enrichment Center. Class choices in April are Drawing for $55 on April 3, Pen & Ink for $65 on April 10, and Pastels for $75 on April 17. Class price includes all materials for each three hour class. Register for all three classes at once for a price of $180. Register no later than one week prior to class. Class is suitable for individuals 16 years and older.

Wedding Dance Class

Learn a variety of dance steps that are perfect at weddings and other social occasions. Wedding parties, family and friends can take the class together. Couples or individuals can take it to be ready for any occasion where there is a dance floor. Classes are held on Wednesdays from April 21 to June 16 from 6:00 7:30 PM at Village Park Enrichment Center. Couples price is $75/87; individuals are $40/52. Register by April 9.

NEW Bikin' & Eggs Family Bike Ride

This new event is a leisure ride via pathway from Foundation Meadows Park to Rogers-Lakewood Park and back for a fun, family friendly, 3-mile morning bike ride. Included is a light breakfast at the end, along with a bike rodeo, inflatables, face painting and more. All ages and abilities are welcome. Helmets required for all participants. $15 per family (includes up to 3 people), $8 for each additional family member. Age 3 and under ride free. Register by May 30.

Valpo Tri online registration

Registration is available online for the Saturday, July 12 sprint length triathlon. The event begins and ends in Rogers-Lakewood Park and is great for competitive athlete as well as the triathlon novice. Register online at www.valpotri.net. Price is $60 for USAT members, $72 for all others. Team price is $120 plus $12 per non-USAT member on the team. Registration is available through July 6.
