Porter County Parks Selected for National Campaign

rot2Porter County Parks & Recreation has been selected as one of ten organizations nationally to participate in the National Recreation and Park Association “Fund Your Park” Campaign. This inaugural campaign selected 10 projects from across the country to participate as part of their crowdfunding platform to build and improve parks throughout the United States.

The project that Porter County presented that caught the eye of the selection panel is the first installment of the new Natural Playground to be developed at Sunset Hill Farm County Park. The department aims to raise $25,000 through the campaign to help complete the Native American Play Area installment of the playground-a project that was selected as the top priority by their 2014 summer camp participants.

These campers in grades 1-8 selected the project and will be one of the driving forces in promoting the campaign. These campers were offered several different options to choose from for the potential project and the Native American Play Area was met with overwhelming excitement from those surveyed making it the obvious choice for the project.

The campaign will run for 45 days starting September 9th calling on community members to donate on any and all levels to help reach the $25,000 goal of completing the first phase of this project. Donations will be hosted through the Fund Your Park webpage at fundyourpark.org.
