Valpo Parks Foundation Announces More Central Park Partnerships

valpo-cpp-plazaThe Valpo Parks Foundation announces more partnerships that are important in making the expansion of Central Park Plaza a successful private-public collaboration.

Twenty seven prominent benches notable to the Central Park Plaza campus were offered to the public to purchase for a ten year term at $2,000 per bench; each includes a commemorative inscribed plate affixed to it. All twenty seven have been purchased for a total investment of $54,000.

The dining plaza just north of the William E. Urschel Pavilion has been dedicated as a naming rights gift by the Costas Family in honor of Bill Costas. The ten year $150,000 agreement will designate the space as the “Bill Costas Family Plaza.” The plaza is highlighted by block granite sculptures with a water feature, unique site furniture and significant landscaping.

Bill Costas founded and operated Costas Foods from 1972 to 1998. Costas also served in the Indiana State Senate from 1980-88. He was an active member of Liberty Bible Church and served on the Board of Centrella Grocers, AMG International and Springhill Camps. “Bill loved God and his community and he has left a legacy of humble service and vibrant faith that will long be treasured by his family and friends”, said Mayor Jon Costas of his father.

Parks Foundation Executive Director responded “We are very grateful and honored by the individuals who partnered with us by purchasing a bench and by the Costas family for their extraordinary generosity. They all join a group of exceptional individuals, families and businesses that have invested in Central Park Plaza and our vibrant downtown. Look for more announcements in the coming weeks as the momentum builds to the grand openings of the new Central Park Plaza campus.”

Available naming rights include opportunities ranging from $10,000 to $300,000 in ten year terms for specialty lighting, ice skating rink dasher board recognition, two additional plazas and the 6,000 square foot Napoleon Street activity center.
