Valpo Parks Hopes For Another Banner Year

Was 2015 a great year for Valpo Parks? You bet!

Valpo Parks had a banner year in 2015 with the completion of ValPlayso and expansion to Central Park Plaza. But creating and maintaining new playgrounds, public spaces and facilities is just a part of what they do for the community.

Valpo Parks is dedicated to providing fun, interactive programs and healthy lifestyle activities for children and adults of all ages, interests and abilities. The wide range of community-driven events brings businesses and people together, whether it’s for special events, day trips, summer camps or their vibrant youth and adult recreational sports leagues.

Leo Sfikas, General Manager of Currie Motors, stated that "Currie Motors is committed to supporting the local community, and there is no better way to connect than through Valpo's wonderful and vibrant parks"

With over 6,000 children involved in youth programs, approximately 4,500 adults participating in adult programs and thousands of families participating in special events, it is evident that the Valpo Parks fills a great need for the residents of Valparaiso and the region.

None of this would be possible, however, without the support of our local businesses and friends who understand the importance of having safe and accessible playgrounds as well as state of the art facilities for skating, concerts, festivals, farmers markets and a variety of other activities and special events.

Dr. Carisse Corns told us, “We at Growing Smiles take pride in our community and are a proud sponsor of Valpo Parks. Parks facilitate social interactions that aid in maintaining community cohesion and pride. They also provide a meeting place where adults and children can develop social ties, where we can gather to share experiences, socialize and to build community bonds in common green spaces."

Valpo Parks is committed to helping to make Valparaiso a great place to live, work and raise a family. They continue to work with businesses whose history of engagement and philanthropy continues to lead Valpo Parks and our City to new heights and opportunities.

There are a multiple of ways for you to support the Valpo Parks or Valparaiso Parks Foundation so that 2016 will be another banner year for the community. For more information, please contact Donna Hannah, Director of Development at dhannah@valpo.us or 219.462.5144.
