The Lakes of Valparaiso Makes a Splash with 2nd Annual Puppy Plunge

On Thursday, The Lakes of Valparaiso Apartments held their 2nd Annual Puppy Plunge for the residents and pups of the Lakes community. The Puppy Plunge began at 5:00 pm, and all different types of dogs were let loose to enjoy the final days of nice weather by swimming in the community pool on its last day open. The dogs at the event varied in shapes, sizes, and colors but they all had the same goal in sight: having fun.

The Lakes of Valparaiso always hold a variety of activities for residents each month. Earlier this month, a Nacho Bar Welcome Party and Breakfast on the Go was held for residents in order to create a sense of community.

“A majority of our apartment buildings are pet friendly,” said Leasing Consultant for The Lakes of Valparaiso, Kandice Ausdemore. “The Puppy Plunge was a way to make some of our pet owners feel special by allowing their dogs to release all of their energy in the sun and pool instead of staying inside. Pets are usually like an extended family to their owners, so we try to incorporate activities for the entire family of the residents here at The Lakes.”

The Puppy Plunge was another lively event but more unique and special being that it was geared towards pups within the Lakes community. The event debuted last year following a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Trail Park and Bark Park within the Lakes complex. Last year, The Lakes staff wanted to make the doggy swim a tradition, and it has successfully become popular among the residents and pups of the community.

Residents living in the apartments were able to bring their dogs to the community pool for them to socialize with their animal neighbors by swimming in the pool or laying in the sun together. Other residents without dogs just came down to the pool to watch the dogs swim and run around, having fun with each other. During the event, The Lakes staff passed out goody bags to residents for the dogs in attendance.

“I think it’s awesome that we are able to bring our dogs to the pool,” said Matt, a resident of The Lakes. “I actually didn’t know if my dog would enjoy or even know how to swim, but he’s having a great time. It’s great that all of the dogs and residents are mingling with each other, because it makes the apartments feel like a real community.”

The Lakes of Valparaiso always hold fun events for all of their residents, even the furry ones, in order to create a sense of community. To learn more about The Lakes of Valparaiso, please visit www.lovthelife.com.
