These volunteers join our current CASA family of dedicated community members who have been trained and are advocating for children who come into the County's juvenile court system as a result of abuse or neglect. As officers of the court, they ensure that the children’s needs are recognized and considered both in the courtroom and in the community.

Volunteers get to know the child they represent by talking with everyone in that child's life and use the information they gather to inform the court of the child's needs.

CASAs often say that volunteering is one of the most personally rewarding experiences they’ve ever had. Sometimes, a CASA is the only stable, supportive adult in a child’s life.

With more children waiting for a CASA volunteer, many more advocates are still needed. If you are interested in finding out more, call the CASA office at 219-464-9585, or email casainfo@fysb.org.
