Winter Boot Drive Extended

Due to the high demand for boots and the low donations, Mothers for Porter County Kids 2010 Winter Boot Drive has been extended until December 19th.

We’re experiencing the highest demand for boots we’ve ever seen”, said Erin Burton, co-founder, Mothers for Porter County Kids. “We have requests from over 600 children for winter boots, but donations are down.”

Local school children at Union Center Elementary wanted to help get boots for underprivileged children in the community. The student council decided to hold a school- wide competition to see which class could bring in the most boots for the boot drive. So far, they have provided boots to almost 20 children.

According to Burton, any help that people can give will make a big difference. A donation of only $25 will provide one needy elementary child in Porter County with a pair of new winter boots.

Any family in Porter County, not able to purchase boots for their elementary school child, should contact their school’s counselor.
Monetary donations to purchase winter boots for needy elementary school children in Porter County can be sent to: Mothers for Porter County Kids, P.O. Box 185, Valparaiso, IN 46384.
