This Wednesday March 2nd from 7-8pm at Ben Franklin Middle School in Valparaiso, IN the 10 and 12 and under softball teams from the Valpo Phoenix are doing their annual Bases 4 Bucks fundraiser.
Last year the girls raised money to support their ability to travel and play elite level softball as well as donating $1,000 to Mayor Jon Costas on behalf of the Kids International organization that supported the tragedy in Haiti. This year the 10 y/o team has chosen a local Portage police woman who has suffered with breast cancer and have raised money to donate in her name to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
The 12 y/o team has visited the Housing Opportunities in Valparaiso this Christmas and learned of a severely depleted pantry that is used for the homeless and underprivileged. They have done a paper product drive for the pantry this year as their service project for the team.
