On October 24, 5 year old Phoenix Bridegroom was found to have Leukemia. She was in critical condition as a result of the Leukemia and had to be flown by helicopter to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. She spent 13 days in the Intensive Care Unit and is now being treated on the Oncology Unit. She has been struggling to regain full neurologic function and to fight the cancer. She is taking chemotherapy and has a very long course of treatment ahead of her. Her parents have been at her bedside thankful for the prayers and support from their family and friends.
There are two ways you can help support the family:
#1: Chili Supper Benefit

Location: Chesterton United Methodist Church at 434 S. Second Street in Chesterton
Time: 4 pm – 8 pm
Cost: Tickets are $5.00/person for all you can eat chili, drinks, and dessert! Children 5 and under eat free! Carry out is available. There will also be a bake sale with baked goods made and donated by loving Chesterton YMCA members and child care participants.
Where to buy tickets: Tickets can be purchased ahead of time at the Chesterton YMCA front desk or The Red Cup Café. You can also pay at the door on the day of the event.
#2: Purchase Santa Letters from the Delta Theta Tau Sorority of Chesterton
Cost: $8 per letter
How to Purchase:
- At the Chili Supper Benefit on December 9th
- E-mail Chris at: cturner@cei-edu.com and ask for to receive the forms to submit your Santa letter via e-mail or postal service.
Remember, the deadline for all requests for Santa letters is December 14, 2011. That way Santa will have time to write back to all the children.
All proceeds from the Chili Supper and the Santa Letters will benefit the Bridegroom family this holiday season.
