Kiwanis Club and Key Clubs Come Together to Spread Holiday Cheer

Brightening a child’s day is nearly a priceless feeling. As the holidays are approaching, Kiwanis Clubs of northwest Indiana have prepared a special treat for kids at Riley Children’s Hospital that is sure do just that.

Kiwanis Club and Key Club members gathered on Thursday at Opportunity Enterprises in the spirit of spreading holiday cheer to children who will be spending their holidays at Riley Children’s Hospital. Nearly 100 holiday cards were decorated to send to the hospital. Each card had a personalized note of “get well” or “we’re thinking of you” as well as a warming message to enjoy the holidays. Along with the decorated card, each child will also receive a blank holiday card to decorate for their family.

’Tis the season for giving and Kiwanians continued with their generous giving. The evening also hosted a silent auction and 50/50 raffle with all proceeds benefiting Riley Children’s Hospital. It has been Kiwanian tradition to support the mission of Riley Children’s Hospital over the years, and it is one that continues this year as the group prepares for their next year of stewardship. Kiwanis governor Ted Sullivan traveled from Madison, IN to empower Kiwanians for a great year during last night’s meeting and fundraiser.

“Our three pillars for the coming year are ‘Connect, Inspire and Advocate,’” said Sullivan. “As we do it this year, let’s do it with fun.”

In addition to the continued support of Riley Children’s Hospital, Sullivan stressed the importance of connecting with the community and schools in order to best serve the needs of each area.

“We need to find out what more we could be doing, and we need to get others inspired to join,” noted Sullivan. “We also must continue to be advocates by sharing what a great job the kids in our community are doing.”
