Valparaiso Plans Strong Presence to Deter Drunk Driving in March

valpopoliceJust as basketball is stirring up a great deal of activities this March, more than 250 Indiana law enforcement agencies are planning to launch action of their own. Beginning Friday, February 28th , Valparaiso Police will initiate a major enforcement effort to crack down on impaired and dangerous driving.

The increased enforcement effort, which lasts through March 23rd , encompasses St. Patrick’s Day and many March sporting events. Valparaiso Police Officers will be working extra patrols during the month of March searching for motorists under the influence and motorists driving overly aggressively on city streets.

Officers will focus on aggressive drivers who speed, disregard stops signs or stop lights, motorists who are texting while driving and motorists who fail to use their seat belts properly. Each weekend in March and on St. Patrick’s Day, officers will be working patrols searching for motorist who drive under the influence of alcoholic beverages or other drugs.
