OE Runners Spots Available for the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon

2014Open lottery registration closed last week for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Runners lucky enough to secure a race entry through the lottery were notified on April 14. For runners who did not receive a race entry but are still interested in running this year’s Chicago Marathon, Opportunity Enterprises has a limited number of entries available. Runners can register for the race through OE and entries will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration involves a $185 payment to secure your spot, and a commitment to raise a minimum of $1,500, for a total minimum commitment of $1,685, by October 1st of this year.

Funds raised by this year’s team will support the growth and development of the All About Kids program, which aims to promote a coordinated, family-focused service delivery system for infants and toddlers from birth to three years that have a significant developmental delay, a physical or developmental disability or have the risk factors for a delay or disability.

Runners who sign up with Opportunity Enterprises not only get to participate for a great cause, but they get great perks. Team membership with OE Runners includes training programs modified for beginning, intermediate, and advanced runners, which will prepare runners to complete the race on Sunday, October 12, 2014. Runners may choose from a traditional 18-week training program, or, for an additional $100, may choose the Jeff Galloway run-walk training method.

All OE Runners training programs include long weekend runs with water stops supervised by experienced training coordinators. In addition to the training program, team members will enjoy race day transportation to and from Northwest Indiana to the start/finish line, use of an exclusive race day warm-up and reunite area with restroom facilities in Charity Village, a team shirt, a weekly e-newsletter containing training tips and team updates throughout the training season, and a catered pasta dinner and post-race party during race weekend. There is also a “Mile Marker” incentive program which features prizes for runners who achieve certain fundraising goals.
