Frontline Foundations to Participate in Give Local Porter County on May 6

Frontline-FoundationsDiscuss the drug problem in Porter County and words such as “drug addiction”, “substance abuse”, and “heroin fatalities” typically pop up in conversation. However, Frontline Foundations, a non-profit substance abuse treatment provider in Northwest Indiana, does not want to miss a very important word: recovery.

As a response to the pressing need for aftercare recovery support in Porter County, Frontline recently launched The Conduit Recovery Community Center in Chesterton. Decorated with client artwork, mosaics and testimonials, The Conduit serves as an alternative outlet for those in recovery featuring live music and a structured schedule of events.

One community event, the Life Recovery Group, begins Sunday, May 11. A free and weekly program held each Sunday at 6pm, the Life Recovery Group will focus on 12-Step principles using the Life Recovery Bible to focus on reconciliation and healing.

“The purpose is to support long-term recovery for those with substance abuse or addiction issues,” said Derek Frazier, Development Director for Frontline. “The first of its kind in Northwest Indiana, The Conduit is a place where people can express their recovery while encouraging others.”

Yet despite all the transformative work being accomplished, funding remains a constant issue.

“The recovery services at The Conduit are free of charge,” said Frazier. “We depend on the support of the community in order to continue our life-changing treatment and recovery services.”
