Successes for Livestrong Enables 19 Cancer Survivors to Participate in the Program Free!

YMCA-Red-PurpleThank you to all of you who contributed in any way to these efforts… many of you instructed at one of the events, secured donations for door prizes, donated door prizes, helped set up the events and/or participated in the events. This is another successful fundraiser for the LIVESTRONG at the Y program! Our SPINATHON and ZUMBATHON events raised enough funds to send another 19 survivors through the program at $200 per participant.

The LIVESTRONG AT THE YMCA IS A FREE 12-WEEK, small group exercise program designed for adult cancer survivors. The program fulfills the important need of supporting the increasing number of cancer treatment and the shift to feeling physically and emotionally strong enough to attempt to return to their normal fie or their “new normal.”

“Our goals for the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA weekend were to increase awareness and to raise funds for the program. We know that cancer can be financially draining and we are honored to be able to offer this twelve week group exercise program completely free of charge for survivors and their families. We are very grateful to everyone who participated in the weekend’s events, donated money and volunteered time. With the proceeds, nineteen more survivors will be able to benefit from the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program! “Lee Baker, Senior Director of Programs, YMCA.
