The Valparaiso Parks Foundation presented their first ever “Legends Award” during the annual Sunday in the Park event Sunday, September 27. The inaugural Legends Award is bestowed on two deserving individuals who have given of themselves to make a significant difference in the Valparaiso parks. This first-time honor goes to Art & Irene Malasto, who have been part of the Parks Foundation in multiple capacities since 1991.
The Legends Award signifies the Malastos’ commitment to the Parks Foundation’s mission of positively impacting the Quality of Life in our community, as they inspire others to follow in their example by creating new initiatives, encouraging active involvement and seeking philanthropic support for the park system. The informal reception was on Sunday, September 27 at Fairgrounds Park in the Butterfield Pavilion.
