Strike Out Stroke on Thursday, June 26th

FLYER-Strike-Out-Stroke-6.18Methodist Hospitals is partnering with Genentech USA, and the Gary Southshore Railcats baseball team in a community event that promotes Stroke and its warning signs.

The goal is to increase awareness in Gary and surrounding communities about stroke and warning signs of stroke.

The following individuals will participate in a brief on the field program before the game:

  • Michael Davenport, M.D. President & Interim CEO, Methodist Hospitals
  • Richard Leverett, Chief of Staff, City of Gary (representing Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson)
  • Pete Laven, President, Gary Southshore Railcats
  • Hariett Miles, Stroke Survivor to throw out first pitch

 

When: The event will be held on Thursday June 26th, 2014. Gates open at 6:00 p.m., and the game starts at 7:10 p.m. On the field program will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Where: The event will be held at the U.S. Steel Yard, One Stadium Plaza, Gary, IN 46402. Stroke screenings, including blood pressure and stroke risk assessment questionnaires will take place at the Main Gate Entrance.

Giveaways and Game Promotions: Everyone that participates in the Stroke Screenings and Education will receive the following:

  • Methodist Hospitals Bag
  • Methodist Hospitals Pen
  • “Stroke is an Emergency” Magnet
  • Blood Pressure Pocket Cards
  • Entered into a raffle to win one of five Free Stroke and Vascular Screening Packages valued at over $500
  • Railcats to interview Stroke Clinical Staff and Gary Fire Department during the game – Railcats Play by Play Broadcaster Dan Vaughan to conduct interview.
  • Genentech will provide stroke education t-shirts to be distributed during the game.
  • The Gary Fire Department’s ambulance will be parked at the field and staff will be providing 911 educations.
