Unity Vigil Help Wanted: Donation and Assistance

The Hands Around the Square Unity in Diversity Vigil is going to take place on Monday, November 2nd, from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., in Valparaiso, at the Porter County Courthouse Square.  The purpose of the vigil is to gather the majority of Valparaiso's residents who support unity and diversity in our city in one place, at the same time.  The vigil will bring these people together in prayer/meditation for the healing of our city against hate crimes, discrimination, exclusion, etc., but will also be a demonstration of what the majority of our citizens stand for--Unity in our Diversity.

The vigil was founded and organized by Christine Hisick.  It is being sponsored by Porter Health Systems, and in-kind sponsor, ValpoLife.com.  Though the details and events of the evening have been taken care of, the vigil is still in need of assistance from the community.

Hands Around the Square is requesting the use of a podium for the night of the event.  We are searching for a podium that our speakers can stand on during the time of their speeches so that the enormous crowd that is expected can see just who is speaking to them.  Speakers are Ivan Bodensteiner--Human Relations Council, Pastor Joseph Cunningham--Valparaiso University Chapel of the Resurrection, Sheriff David Lain--Porter County Sheriff's Department, Pastor Lloyd Miller--First United Methodist Church, Pastor Rich Schmidt--Living Hope Community Church, Pastor Ben Lamb--GracePoint Church, Robert Cotton--Human Relations Council, and Christine Hisick--Event Founding Organizer.  The podium would then be returned promptly to its' owner after the conclusion of the event.

The Unity in Diversity Vigil is also requesting the help of our entire community, Valparaiso, and all of the residents of Northwest Indiana.  Spreading the word is the hardest part in the organizing of an event, but it's so much easier when everybody steps up to the plate and pitches in.  Citizens of Valparaiso are asked to spread the word about the event to all of their friends, families and neighbors.  Tell everyone that you know and invite them to come, whether they live in Valparaiso, or not.  Anyone who supports unity in diversity, and would like to come out and help us in filling the square to support our Community of the Year is welcome.  Spread the word!

If you would like to help spread the word by passing out flyers, or emailing a copy of the flyer to your contacts, send an email to the Event Founding Organizer at organizer@bantafeeds.com.  Christine Hisick will then send you the document that you need to do your part.  If you have a podium that we can borrow for the event, contact Christine by email, or call (219) 840-0797.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the Porter County Courthouse on November 2nd, Valparaiso.  Be there, or be square!
