Food Bank of NWI Announces its First Porter County Mobile Market

NEWfoodbank logoAs part of Hunger Action Month, the Food Bank of NWI will be hosting its second Mobile Market on September 10th from 4pm to 6pm at Fairground Park in Valparaiso, Indiana. This will be Porter County’s first Mobile Market. Fairground Park is located on the corner of Evans Ave. and Calumet Ave.

Mobile Markets are presented by the Food Bank of NWI and feature fresh produce, canned goods, bread and more to those that need assistance. Residents of Lake and Porter Counties are all welcome and encouraged to bring bags and/or boxes. Residents only need to show proof of residence (i.e. state I.D. or utility bill).

Hunger Action Month will continue throughout September with other programs like Spread the Love, a peanut butter drive takes place in September with drop off bins at participating Strack and VanTil, Ultra Foods and town and Country Markets along with 20 schools throughout Lake and Porter Counties. One other program will be announced in the coming week involving a friendly school competition to raise awareness of hunger in NWI.
