Karats for Kids Benefits Agency and Donor

Karats-for-Kids-01Do you have any gold, gems, or fine jewelry that you don’t use anymore?

On Friday, November 7, you can donate these items to Family & Youth Services Bureau and receive an appraisal and receipt for the retail value of the items from local jeweler Stephanie Swanson. The donation may also be considered a charitable deduction.

Karats for Kids is a unique fundraising activity designed to appeal to someone who has any gold, gemstones or fine jewelry they do not use anymore.

People in this category might include: a person who has any gold, gemstones or fine jewelry that is out of style, they don’t wear anymore and do not anticipate saving the items to give to anyone; someone who has these items left over from a previous relationship and they do not want to incorporate the items into a new piece of jewelry; or someone who was given one or more of these items by a relative or friend and told “I don’t ever want to see this again,” and the item just sits unused in a jewelry box.

FYSB will take care of the sale of items collected, and the funds raised will benefit the many kids in our programs.

How it works:
Call 219-464-9585 to donate your items and make an appointment to see jeweler and appraiser Stephanie Swanson on November 7.

Appointments set in 15 minute increments; two items accepted in each 15 minute appointment.

Walk-ins welcome on November 7, we will do those appraisals if time is available.

Donors will receive an appraisal and receipt that day.

When: Friday, November 7, 2014 at 10 am to 5 pm

Where: Family & Youth Services Bureau, 253 W. Lincolnway, Valparaiso
