Opportunity Enterprises is proud to celebrate Disabilities Awareness Month for Indiana with the annual gala. This year’s theme “The Perfect Fit” will honor the amazing clients who have found their perfect fit at OE. As the gala approaches on March 14, OE gears up for a sold out event with more than 650 attendees at the Avalon Manor in Merrillville.
This is the 23rd year for the OE’s gala hosted by philanthropic sorority Delta Theta Tau that has raised more than 1.4 million to support children and adults with disabilities.
“Disability Awareness Month is a time for our community to celebrate, honor, and promote individuals with disabilities. Our gala is an iconic representation of how hundreds of our amazing clients have found their perfect fit at OE and are celebrated for their ability and not their disability. We are incredibly grateful to have the support from our corporate sponsors, our community, and the Deltas who have already helped us raise $125,000 in sponsorships. We couldn’t be any more thankful for them during this time,” said CEO of Opportunity Enterprises, Ellen DeMartinis.
Linda Scalia, a mother of one of OE’s amazing clients, is attending the gala for the first time with her family. Scalia said the gala is a great way for supporters to come together and enjoy food, music, dancing and meet the clients who attend.
“We are so excited to be attending the gala. We believe in the work that OE does for my son and for so many other individuals with disabilities. My daughters and I want to help those clients at OE who may not have the financial support that they need. Not everyone is as fortunate as my son and we want to support the programs that give services to our special needs’ children,” she said.
