Paint the Town Pink With the City of Whiting

Paint the Town Pink With the City of Whiting

This May, dedicated leaders in the City of Whiting, local businesses, and community residents and visitors will come together once again for the entire month, in efforts to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer Research. Get involved in the City of Whiting’s Paint the Town Pink Events and join in the fight against breast cancer. From pink decor on the exteriors of homes and businesses, to the banners, street signs and ribbons that line Downtown Whiting, everyone in the community comes together to ‘Paint the Town Pink’.

“The coolest thing about it is that the town is actually “Painted Pink” by the City and its residents and businesses," explains Kathleen Ulm, Co-chair of Paint the Town Pink. “Over 120 street poles are decorated with pink ribbons that are sponsored by area residents and businesses to honor breast cancer survivors and fighters.” She continues, "This month, our billboard to “welcome” people into town features six, courageous women of all ages who are currently fighting breast cancer.”

On Friday, May 6th, thousands of students from area schools including Whiting Middle/High Schools, Clark Middle/High Schools, Franklin Elementary School and St. John the Baptist Catholic School will all wear pink in support for the cause. City businesses will also raise money with “wear pink days”.

With the outstanding efforts of PTTP committee members, the Whiting community, and surrounding residents and businesses, 'Paint the Town Pink’ has raised over $50K in just four years. All of the money is put toward Northwest Indiana Breast Cancer Services. To plan for yet another successful year, PTTP Co-chairs Kathleen Ulm and Stephanie Madison have worked to coordinate the “4 EVENTS. 1 CAUSE” 2016 event series, which you can find details for below.
