Habitat for Humanity to Dedicate Duplex (with photos)

Pictures from the dedication after the article.

Habitat for Humanity of Porter County is proud to announce the dedication and blessing of their latest building project, a duplex located at 485/487 South Morgan in Valparaiso.
The public is invited to join board members and volunteers, along with the partner families, project donors, and various public officials, in a celebration of community volunteerism and a service to bless the new house starting at 2:30 PM January 31.

Parking at the homes is accessed by the alley off Union Street. Additional parking will be available at Will Park on South Morgan, a short walk away from the site.

Highlights of the gathering will include tours and blessing of the building, the formal presentation of house keys to the partner families, and the signing of Bibles by volunteers who assisted in construction over the last seven months. A light reception will follow the dedication.

Porter County Habitat builds homes with labor from volunteers and the intended recipient of the home. Partner families are required to provide 300 hours of “sweat equity” in home construction, along with a down payment on the property. Partner families, in turn, receive an interest-free mortgage through Habitat for Humanity.

Additional information, including specific information on the partner families, building history, and statistics on volunteers and finances involved in this Habitat for Humanity build, will be available to the media on the day of the event.
