Valparaiso Kiwanis Foundation Names Arnold Community Volunteer of 2016

Each year, Valparaiso Kiwanis Foundation accepts nominations for Community Volunteer of the Year. The purpose of the award is to recognize outstanding volunteers, promote volunteerism, encourage increased volunteerism within the community, and to celebrate the “spirit of volunteerism” in Valparaiso. Long-time Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County Board member and former Board Chair, Nick Arnold of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Executive Group Real Estate, was one of ten nominees recognized for this prestigious honor, and was named Valparaiso Kiwanis Foundation’s 2016 Community Volunteer of the Year earning $1,000 for Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County and $250 from Porter County Community Foundation for the Clubs’ endowment fund.

Arnold has given countless hours of volunteer time to Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County serving as a Board member for eleven years and participating on such committees as Board Governance, Finance, and Resource Development. During his tenure as a Board member, he earned five and ten-year Service to Youth Recognition Awards and was named a National Silver Medallion honoree by Boys & Girls Clubs of America for his devoted service to children locally, state-wide, and nationally. His long history of volunteer service also includes Valparaiso Rotary Club, Valparaiso YMCA, and facilitator of youth groups for his church.

“Nick is the epitome of the best volunteer and Board member an organization, like the Boys & Girls Clubs, could ask for in an individual. I am proud to have Nick serve on our Board because his passion and dedication for youth ensures that our Club members will have successful and GREAT Futures,” states Ryan Smiley, president of Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County.

Arnold lives by Boys & Girls Clubs’ mission of inspiring and enabling youth to reach their full potential as caring, productive, and responsible citizens. With his caring disposition, he works to improve both the City of Valparaiso and all Porter County Communities.
