McAfee Animal Hospital Raising Needed Funds for Animal Shelters Affected by Hurricane Harvey

McAfee-Animal-Hospital-Hurricane-Harvey When Hurricane Harvey devastated Houston, McAfee Animal Hospital stepped up, as many Hoosier businesses and individuals did, to do something to help the relief effort in whatever way they could. From September 1st until September 30th, McAfee Animal Hospital will be collecting donations and selling items to help out in this effort. All the proceeds from these sales will go to aid animal shelters in the Houston area affected by the historically damaging storm.

For only $15.00, McAfee is selling these orange or yellow shirts that sport the moniker “Hoosiers for Houston,” with the two states pictured next to each other in unison. Staff members have been wearing the shirts every Friday to encourage patrons to donate to this important cause and even went to a Railcats game in Gary to raise awareness as well as funds.

If visitors to the animal hospital would prefer to just make a monetary donation, they are able to do so as well. Additionally, they are selling McAfee coffee mugs filled with dog and cat treats for your furry loved one for $5.00.

Treating pets on a daily basis, the crew at McAfee naturally had a strong desire to lend their hand to the animals and their caretakers at local shelters, who were totally devastated by the hurricane. Shelters can be overlooked in relief efforts sometimes so the employees at McAfee felt a special need to help.

“A lot of shelters lost everything in the Hurricane,” said Jennet of McAfee.

Catey Violanti, Financial Manager at McAfee, was one of the principal forces behind getting the ball rolling and obtaining the shirts for sale as well. With other things dominating the news cycle, it is important to remember that relief is still needed so feel free to stop by before the end of the month, when donations will be sent down, and donate your money to this worthy cause.
