Methodist Hospitals’ Employees Gives Back to the Community During National Hospital Week

According to the American Hospitals Association’s website, during the month of May, National Hospital Week is celebrated in hospitals throughout the United States and gives an opportunity to honor staff for their efforts in saving and improving the lives of citizens in communities they service. While hospitals across the country were thanking all of their dedicated employees for their contributions, Methodist Hospitals’ employees selected a non-profit organization to donate and give back to.

This year Methodist employees held a drive and donated supplies for the Brother’s Keeper, Inc., a 501C3 organization, that shelters homeless men who are in desperate need of support. During the month of May, employees donated household/houseware products, detergent, hygiene and personal products. After receiving the items that were donated, Mary Edwards, the Executive Director at Brother’s Keeper commented; “The Board of Directors, Women’s Auxiliary, Staff and Residents are very grateful for all acts of kindness extended to us. As a 501C3 non-profit agency, we are very dependent on help from other entities. When community partners come together and donate to our facility, we can continue our work with homeless men and other indigent individuals from the community”. LaTanya Woodson, the Manager of Community Outreach at Methodist Hospitals stated, “The employees at Methodist are always looking for opportunities to give back to the community. Giving back is another way to show we care about people living throughout the communities we serve”.
