Tiananmen Leader Featured at Lifetree Cafe

Lifetree-Cafe-LogoAn exclusive film of Chai Ling, leader of the 1989 student protest in Tiananmen Square, will be screened at Lifetree Cafe on Friday, June 8, 2012, from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm.

Ling describes her experiences leading the protests, how she eluded Chinese authorities, and her secret escape from the country. She now lives in the U.S.

Ling now leads an effort to address China's birth policies and the discrimination against girls.

"In the spring of 1989, all eyes were on China," says Lifetree representative Craig Cable. "From the day thousands of students assembled in peaceful protest to the moment tanks rolled into the square and soldiers fired into the crowd, the world knew freedom was coming to life in China. And though the complete story couldn't be told then, now it can."

Admission to the 60-minute event, titled "China's Dark Secrets," is free. Snacks and beverages are available. Lifetree Cafe is located at Life Bridge Christian Church at 1705 LaPorte Ave, Valparaiso, IN 46383 (located behind King Gyros)
