Tullis Makes Full-Time Transition to Our Greater Good

GarnerAfter more than 20 years at Bethel Valparaiso, Garner Tullis has transitioned to devote his time and energy full-time to Our Greater Good. As a part of this transition, Tullis is very excited to introduce Bethel’s new Senior Pastor, Kyle Felke. Both Garner and his wife, Mary, are very excited about the future of Bethel Valpo and will continue to be active members of that vibrant faith community. Tullis will also continue his responsibilities as Regional Facilitator for Bethel’s denomination, Global Legacy.

As Executive Director of Our Greater Good, Tullis will be working to connect Valparaiso residents to one another as they adopt neighborhoods and perform worthwhile community projects. The driving philosophy that guides Our Greater Good is the belief that profound and significant change can be accomplished with people working together for the greater good. The positioning statement, “Forming Powerful Partnerships That Create Lasting Change,” expresses the desire to create a movement among the residents of our community that can, over time, grow to become part of the city’s culture. The innovative website, www.ourgreatergood.com, is designed to make it easy to leverage the strength and compassion of Valparaiso with the needs of the citizenry.

Tullis adds, “Our Greater Good will provide the framework that will nurture more meaningful and powerful relationships between those who need help and those who can provide it. In order to accomplish this goal, we will ask individuals and businesses to make a commitment to specific neighborhoods becoming part of a localized partnership to meet the needs of that neighborhood. Concentrating volunteer energy on a specific area will allow relationships to grow and lead to the completion of significant projects.”

Individuals, business owners, church leaders and civic organizations are encouraged to visit the website, click on the “How to Get Involved” tab in the upper right-hand corner to set up an account. Then review the available projects in your neighborhood, then volunteer for the most appropriate one. If you can provide skilled labor, the website allows you to search for projects that require your specific skill sets.
