Calvary Link: Find That Place

Calvary-Link-BeautyThere is a field near our house where I like to take walks. There is something about that place that makes me feel quiet and reflective. I've been going there more often these days, sometimes in the morning and evening both. It is one of several places where I go to pray--for my family, my friends, and my flock (that's you!). Taking some time to get away and pray is a habit I learned from Jesus' example; he did it often (see Mark 1:35-39).

I would encourage you to find that place where you can sometimes go to quietly pray. Pray for your family. Pray for your friends. And pray for the flock of God at Calvary! We are growing, and we need God more than ever. I am praying that this time of numerical growth in our church will be equaled by a time of spiritual growth! I am praying that God will increase our joy in HIM as we spread this joy to others! I am praying for God to to do even more than all we can ask or think--for us and through us--that He might be glorified.

If you need help developing a regular practice of prayer or you wonder how to begin praying, check out my blog article from a few weeks ago, "A Model for Daily Prayer." You will be hearing more about prayer at Calvary in the days and weeks to come. We want to be a church where God is glorified because He is doing awesome things for us and for the glory of His name.

I am praying for you! Please pray for me.

What's New at Calvary...

Prayer Warriors Needed
God, what would you have us do? This fall, we are entering a season of prayer as we ask God to continue to bless our church and to show us what He would have us do in the months and years ahead. One of the first things we're doing is initiating a prayer gathering on Sunday mornings. Join Dan and Candie Blankenburg every Sunday in the church conference at 9:45a. Come and pray for our church; we need you!

The meal will serve about 50 people, and we need several ladies (and gentlemen!) to help with set up, food prep, serving, and clean up. If you are available to serve, please contact Mari Matthiesen right away. Also please keep the Irish, Erwin, and Oxendale families in your prayers during this time of mourning.
