Calvary Link: Hope

Calvary-Link-The-Way-2017Hope. I need it. This week I am grieving. Monday night my wife and I wept with a family we have known for almost twenty years. Tragically, their son died in a car accident in southern Indiana. He grew up with our boys and has been in our home many times. The only words we have during times like this are "How long, O Lord?" (Psalm 13:1).

That's the way I feel sometimes. How long, Lord, will you let our suffering continue? The Scriptures give us permission to grieve. Even Jesus wept (John 11:35). The Bible also tells us that it is normal for us to wonder what God is up to and to ask him why (Psalm 10:1).

I must confess, I do not fully understand his ways. But I cling to the hope that God loves the family I am grieving with now. I cling to the hope that he loves YOU. I cling to the hope that he loves me. I cling to the hope that nothing will ever separate us from His love. Not even death.

This Sunday, I will continue our theme of hope from the book of Acts and my prayer is that whatever you are going through, you will not give up. Let us hope TOGETHER. You are loved.
