Calvary Link: The Gospel Welcomes

Calvary-God-SongsThe biblical encouragement to "greet one another" and "practice hospitality" found throughout the New Testament letters tells us something very powerful. The gospel welcomes. Because of the gospel, God has welcomed us. And because of the gospel we welcome each other. We also welcome those who are new (Hebrews 13:2).

This is one of the reasons our church is growing. Together we are opening our lives to others and saying, "We welcome you in this place." Yes, this is the work of ushers and greeters and pastors and door holders and those who help people find parking places on Sunday. But it is something we all do. We greet one another—those we have known for years—and we welcome those who are new.

As we welcome university students to our region and church this fall, remember that it will be getting very crowded. Even this last Sunday we were out of room at the 9:45a service. Someday we will have room for Even More. (Won't that be great?!) Until then, if even a few of you could transition to 11:15a or 8:15a, it would help us welcome others with a place to sit and hear the gospel.

I'm working on another exposition from the Psalms this Sunday. Enjoy this fabulous weather. I sure do love being your pastor!

Doxology: A Night of Worship
We were made to worship, to pursue with a passion the one our heart loves. How easy it is to forget this when our hearts are coaxed into distraction. Yet when we stand shoulder to shoulder and raise our voices together, we are reminded how marvelous and how good is our God.

Introducing Doxology: A Night of Worship for the whole church. Join us on 9.14 for a night of song and prayer as we turn our hearts to worship.
