Lubeznik Center for the Arts Presents Art of the Valentine

Art-of-the-ValentineLubeznik Center for the Arts announces Art of the Valentine, a presentation by Lubeznik Center for the Arts’ Executive Director and vintage valentine collector, Carolyn Saxton, on Sunday February 3, 2013 at 2 pm.

The program lasts 90 minutes and will include discussion of the history of valentine art, highlighting Saxton’s extensive personal collection of internationally made 19th and 20th century valentines. Carolyn Saxton is a member of the National Valentine Collectors Association and has been collecting valentines for more than two decades. “I became a collector because of my love for the intricate art coupled with the poetic voice these cards convey. It is a lost art form with today’s mass marketed pop-culture icon candy cards,” said Saxton.

Ivy Tech Community College, Michigan City campus Classical Pastries & Chocolates (HOSP213) students will serve pastries, tea sandwiches, and candy delights. Admission to Art of the Valentine is $15. This fundraiser event is suitable for all ages. To RSVP or for more information, please call Lubeznik Center for the Arts at 219-874-4900 or e-mail artinfo@lubeznikcenter.org.
