Local Art Teachers Get Their Chance to Shine in Annual IU Northwest Exhibit

iun_logo_top_version“It’s Our Turn: High School Art Teachers’ Exhibit” dedicated to the memory of IU Northwest friend and arts consultant Myron Nidetz 

On Friday, June 26, starting at 6 p.m., the Indiana University Northwest Savannah Gallery for Contemporary Art will host a reception for the show “It’s Our Turn: High School Art Teachers’ Exhibit.” This annual showcase, which opens June 22, features a variety of artwork from some of Northwest Indiana’s most creative high school art instructors.

The public is invited to come out and greet the featured artists in this year’s show, which has been dedicated to the memory of Myron P. Nidetz, longtime IU Northwest arts consultant and an enthusiastic supporter of art and artists in Northwest Indiana. Nidetz passed away in February.

Artists represented in this year’s exhibit include: from Andrean High School, Barbara Koteles; from Chesterton High School, Kirsten Renehan; from Crown Point High School, Dorothy Duffala and Donna Pancini; from Emerson School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Richard Hoblitzel and Deborah Weiss; from George Rogers Clark High School, Marcia Carson; from Hammond High School, Marsha Browne; from Hanover Central High School, Lou Greer; from Highland High School, Rhonda Szymanski; from Hobart High School, Kim Bucheit; from Lake Central High School, Paul Volk; from Lew Wallace High School, Kathryn Province; from Lowell High School, Thomas Sufana; from Merrillville High School, Terry Pratt; from Portage High School, Gretchen Hargarten and Annette Kulmatycki; from Roosevelt High School, Desire’e Simpson; from Thomas Edison High School, Jan Georgion; and, from Valparaiso High School, Marilyn Hanson and Ray Juestel.
