ACT 1: Fashion Forward Student Designs
Fashion Design students from regional colleges compete in Creative Design, Wearability, and Workmanship for Critics Choice, Peoples Choice, and Best of Show awards and the opportunity to display their work here in a future LCA exhibition.

ACT 2: Vintage Wedding Wear by Rock Star Designer
The Bridal Registry at the Gallery Shop officially kicks off with this rocked-out vintage wedding wear for women and men by “designer to rock stars,” Liz Meyer of Silver Moon Chicago.

Poetry Slam

Friday, April 5, 2013
5:00 – 8:00 p.m. (CST)
The Poetry Slam invites poets to showcase their works in a raucous audience-juried event. Poets who wish to participate should prepare three original pieces, each under 3 minutes in length. Each poet will be provided the opportunity to present one of their works. In tournament style, poets will be eliminated each round until one is left standing as the Poetry Slam Champion. J.W. Baz returns to host the Poetry Slam. He has participated in many slams across the country and is a sought after host. Poets must register by contacting Janet Bloch at 219-874-4900 or jbloch@lubeznikcenter.org with your contact information.

In between rounds, be sure to visit the opening of Outside the Classroom: Teacher as Artist in the NIPSCO Education Studios. Refreshments will be served. Admission is free.

New Class Offerings!

Art & Nature- New!
Mondays, March 18 – April 22, 2013 : 6-8 pm
Join us on this unique artistic journey using natural material to create art objects. Students will create bluebird feeders, cement birdbaths, wind chimes and more! The Hook Family will teach this unique class together as each member has a different area of expertise. The Hooks live on a small farm in LaPorte and together they engage in a variety of sustainable living and art making practices.

Beading: Flat Spiral Technique - New!
Wednesdays, April 10 - May 1, 2013 : 6:30–8:30 pm
Must provide own needle nose pliers.
Learn how to use fishing line and beads to create a beautiful necklace and bracelet set that is reminiscent of Cleopatra’s jewelry.

Bookbinding Workshop- New!
Saturday, April 6, 10 am–3:30 pm
Each student will create their own 6” x 9” hard bound book or journal.
Students will learn how to fold, stitch and glue paper signatures into a book block. Then using re-purposed materials from old leather purses and luxurious wallpaper samples, each student will create a one of a kind book cover. No previous experience is necessary. Bring a bag lunch.
