LCA will be closed in preparation of our annual fundraising event, ArtBash, which is being held at the center for the first time. Normal hours will resume on Sunday, July 13th.

Your participation in ArtBash will strengthen LCA's continued arts leadership in the region through exhibitions, education and community initiatives.

The event will feature culinary delights, inspired libations, LA-based DJ HMU, artists creating their work, interactive performances, and celebrate our honoree Don Babcock.

Summer Classes
Looking for an art class to take this summer, but don't have time to commit to a course? LCA offers one-day workshops. Seats are still available for Fused Glass 1, Saturday, July 19, 12 - 3 pm. In this class students learn the fundamentals of glass fusing. Another workshop still available is Mad Hatting & High Tea, Wednesday, July 23, 3 - 5 pm. Students will learn how to create a fascinator or top hat for summer, while enjoying treats and tea from Bowler Man Confections. For children, Pop-Up Art is a three-day workshop, starting July 14, 3 - 4:30 pm. In this workshop students will learn the basic mechanisms for pop-up structures.

Artspace: Community Meeting
Artspace will host a community meeting with updates about the Uptown Artists Lofts. Updates will include the development schedule, when residential leasing information sessions will be held, when they anticipate accepting applications, and the commercial leasing process and requirements. Guest speakers will discuss how residents can open a business. Q&A will follow after the presentation.

Art As Autobiography: The History of the Artist in the Work
A panel discussion with author Stephanie Medlock and artists Suzanne Cohan-Lange, Richard C. Lange and Material Possessions artists John Paul Morabito and Aram Han. Panelists will discuss what influences help them create their works, from the more obvious fascination with forms and materials, to the socio/political issues that interest them, and the deeply personal memories that may unconsciously direct their choices.

SculptFusion
MAC is celebrating its second year of this public art project, "Sculptfusion" as a way to infuse sculpture and other public art in the Uptown Arts District of Michigan City.
