Horizon Bank Awards $30,000 Grant to Lubeznik Center for the Arts

Horizon Bank is pleased to announce the recent grant award to Lubeznik Center for the Arts in Michigan City Indiana, located in LaPorte County, Indiana.

The grant, in the amount of $30,000, was presented on January 25th by Rachel Saxon, Board Member of LCA and President & Senior Trust Officer, Trust & Investment Management of Horizon Bank, to LCA President Nick Bridge, Executive Director Erika Hanner and Education Director Janet Bloch.

Grant money will be used to promote Literacy Through Art, a new initiative that addresses the Michigan City Area School children’s need to improve reading levels by implementing literacy-focused curriculum, professional and development workshops, and pre-and post-assessments into LCA's current visual art instruction provided in partnership with Safe Harbor and the Boys and Girls Club of Michigan City.

Hanner said of the grant, “We are absolutely thrilled at the investment Horizon is making in our Literacy Through Art Program. A multi-year grant in particular allows us, and any non-profit, to move forward with confidence that the necessary funding will keep pace with the program. Horizon’s prescience in their funding structure demonstrates just how attuned they are to the needs of the organizations they work with. We are so proud of the work we are doing in the Michigan City Area Schools and Horizon's endorsement is indeed gratifying.”
