WiseWay's Big Pumpkin Fest Brings Big Fun to Stores in Northwest IndianaWiseWay's Old Orchard Fall Harvest Big Pumpkin Fest delighted every one who came. On October 8, 2011, fun started right away with the judging of the decorated pumpkins brought by children. There was a winner for guessing the weight of a pumpkin too, along with free face painting and delicious samples of everything from popcorn to pumpkin rolls, offered to shoppers and fest goers.

Store Manager of the Chesterton WiseWay, Jason Boardman, said, "We are giving away free brats, deli demos, cheese samples, ice cream from Dean's, and Hoosier Daddy BBQ Sauce. We've had pumpkin judging and a Guess the Weight of the Pumpkin contest, it's a lot of fun."

Brock Vaughn quickly sat down to have his face painted, getting Batman drawn on his cheek. Grandma Diane Vaughn was visiting the area and said her grandsons, Brock (7), and Alex (10), are regular shoppers with their parents and the boys said, "We shop at WiseWay."

Winning the "Guess the Weight of the Pumpkin" went to Lars Olson of Valparaiso. Guessing a pumpkin's weight to be 59 pounds, Olson won a $25 gift card for more shopping at WiseWay

There were two winners for decorated pumpkins. Meghan McAllister won 2nd place, earning her a Charlie Brown Halloween DVD and a Halloween candy jar. First place went to Alyssa Thompson for her pumpkin, earning her a digital camera.

If you like BBQ sauce, there was a new one to try "Hoosier Daddy." Co-owner of the Hoosier Daddy BBQ Sauce, David Foy, was eager to hand out samples of their secret recipe. Foy said, "We've sold 60,000 bottles of sauce in our first month. WiseWay was our first customer."

The recipes for the two flavors of Hoosier Daddy, Deathly Hot Ghost Roast and Sweet and Sassy are secret recipes that were handed down by Foy's wife's father. Kim Foy started up the brand Hoosier Daddy with her fathers recipes and the sauces are taking off.

Part of the proceeds from each bottle of Hoosier Daddy will go to the William Clinton Marshall Foundation for cancer research, diabetes, autism and also to the Greyhound Foundation.

Shoppers attending the Old Orchard Harvest Fest at WiseWay left the store with smiles on their faces, having a little fall fun.
