October 12-31: Dracula at Chicago Street Theatre
The theatre presents the timeless story of good versus evil in this classic vampire tale. This is a dark show, a modern adaptation of the Bram Stoker book. Be frightened with this thriller, featuring lots of special effects!
Friday, October 18: Trick or Treat with Rittenhouse
Join Rittenhouse for a spooktacular anniversary party. Celebrate three years with ghoulish games, freaky fun, trick or treating, a photo booth, and frightening food! Wear your favorite costume to be entered into the costume contest!
Friday, October 19: Oktoberfest and Hayride Time at St. Paul
Come out to St. Paul for hayrides, food, bounce houses, face painting, and a beer garden! All are welcome!
October 19-27: Frightfully Fun Nights at Camp Topenebee
Hike through the haunted woods of Camp Topenebee during the last two weekends of October! Trails this year include Witches Bonfire, Giant Troll Bridge, Shotgun Shack, Chainsaw Bridge, Insane Asylum, and more!
Friday, October 19: Healthy Halloween at the YMCA
The Portage YMCA is hosting a healthy Halloween party! Come out for pumpkin decorating, a hula hoop contest, a costume parade, zumba, the limbo, a DJ spinning music and more!
Saturday, October 20: Fall Garage Mahal
Whispering Pines presents a gigantic indoor garage sale, with two hundred booths of bargains and treasures for purchase. All persons attending have the opportunity to win wonderful prizes donated by participating booth renters and sponsors.
Saturday, October 20: Pet Halloween Celebration with Vale Park
Vale Park Animal Hospital is hosting their annual celebration. There will be pets in costume, a parade of the pets, pet photos, several giveaways, goody bags, food, games, and more! Non-clients are invited as well!
Friday, October 26: Fall Harvest Festival
Wear your spookiest or silliest costume and go door-to-door in Valparaiso’s downtown to get some tasty treats from restaurants and retailers. Visit Central Park after for treats and fun in the park! Free hayrides too!

Disposable Theatre and Girls on the Run have teamed up for a night of terrifyingly funny comedy! Zombie Improve is the theatre’s annual celebration. Audience members are invited to come in costume!

Come to County Line Orchard for the annual trick or treating event! Kids can gather candy from local businesses and organizations at the orchard.
Saturday, October 27: Boo at the Zoo
Fly your broomstick on down to the Washington Park Zoo on the 27th for a kid-friendly, merry, not scary evening with the animals. Area businesses sponsor booths along the decorated zoo paths and hand out candy to the kids. There will also be special guests handing out candy!
Saturday, October 27: Tricks and Treats in the Uptown Arts District
Families and friends can visit the Uptown Arts District for a downtown Trick or Treat and a special surprise event. Visit the Bank of Horrors Haunted Second Level at Ryan’s Irish Pub and Bed Races also at Ryan’s.
Sunday, October 28: Dinner with Scoopie
During the month of October, decorate a leaf for display at Culver’s and take a guess at the Candy Corn Contest while you are there. Then on the 28th, come for a Halloween Dinner Party with Scoopie! There will be a pumpkin decorating contest, games, and winners of the leaf decorating will be selected. Wear your Halloween costume for a special treat!
