The Merriment of Mistletoe and Music Sure Showed the Spirit of the Season

What’s better than good food, good company, and Elvis? Not much, I’d say. That’s why LaPorteCountyLife and many other organizations headed over to Blue Chip Casino Hotel and Spa for the first ever Mistletoe and Music event. We decided to have our office Christmas party in style!

The event took place in the elegant New Orleans Ballroom on the second floor of Blue Chip’s Stardust Event Center. Lovely holiday decorations adorned all the right places and Christmas trees sparkled and glinted in each corner. A lavish buffet was ready for the guests to enjoy. The chefs pulled out all the stops with fresh salad and hot soups, a mashed potato bar (fabulous idea), prime rib and turkey carving stations, other delicious side and entree choices -complete with vegetarian options, and a fully-loaded dessert table. That’s an impressive lunch buffet. Oh, did I mention that the event began at 11am? This isn’t what one would expect for the starting time of a holiday party. Why so early?

“This is our first year having the Mistletoe and Music Event,” said “D” Alexander Scott, Community Relations Coordinator for Blue Chip Casino, “It’s an early afternoon event where companies and people can come together, get themselves a table, have a great lunch, and enjoy the holidays among each other. With some organizations it’s very nice because they like an earlier event versus an evening event. This is another option that we are able to offer the community.”

Having a daytime party makes sense. This time of year gets very busy and our evenings become booked very quickly. Being able to relax and celebrate without feeling rushed and still having time to tackle the rest of our busy days is something that we all desire. I’m sure that this will be a repeat event.

I can’t say I’m the only one who feels this way. Mary Fetsch, Director of Marketing at St. Mary Medical Center was there with her co-workers and they were all having an exceptional time.

“We thought this would be a fun way to celebrate the holidays,” Fetsch said. “We get to eat, network and listen to a little Elvis music.”

There are two types of people: those that love Elvis Presley music, and those that haven’t heard him yet. Everyone that came to the Mistletoe and Music event was of the first type. Rick Saucedo, Elvis Impersonator extraordinaire, entertained the guests with lively impersonations of Elvis Presley’s Christmas songs and some of his greatest hits.

Laurie Franke-Polz, Marketing Director for First Trust Credit Union said, “This is a great way for me to bring out my team to a really fun Christmas event. We’ve got great networking, great food, we’ve got Elvis. What could be finer?”

Like I said before, not much. The Blue Chip Casino Hotel and Spa really did an excellent job of helping many people create great memories at the Mistletoe and Music event.
