Porter Health Hosts Spring Jubilee for Employees

Porter Regional Hospital held its annual Spring Jubilee as a thank you for all the hard work done by its associates, said Chief Financial Officer Cheryl Harmon.

Harmon said, “This is a nice event that is an opportunity for our associates to relax and have a good time and to spend time together outside of work and for Porter to say ‘Thank You!’ for all the hard work they do.”

The Spring Jubilee, formerly Jack Frost Jubilee, was held at the Radisson in Merrillville in the Celebrity Ball Room with a decadent meal for all to enjoy, featuring roast beef, mashed potatoes and roasted spring vegetables with sinful deserts including cheesecake.

The Jubilee has come to be known as the “Porter Prom” because guests dress to the 9’s with party goers wearing suits and ties, floor-length gowns and dresses in all styles and fashions.

“This event gives us the chance to see everyone out of their scrubs for a change,” Char Pluta, Head Nurse in Labor & Delivery said. "I want to say thanks to Porter for hosting this event. I love the friendship and comraderie and I love seeing everyone looking their best; this really is a wonderful event.”

Everyone from Environmental Services (housekeeping) to doctors, nurses and chiefs-of-staff were in attendance socializing, dancing and having a great time.

Brian Sinotte, Chief Operating Officer, said Porter is really like a family. He stated, “This event is really held to recognize that family. Our associates provide such great care and really make this organization what it is. This is a recognition of that special relationship that we want to cultivate and cherish every day.”

Adding to the sentiment of Sinotte, Jonathan Nalli, Chief Executive Officer, said, “The Spring Jubilee is one of the greatest parties where we can have the vast majority of the staff come out and let their hair down and have a great time.”

A fun time was had by all at the Spring Jubilee but it could not have gone so smoothly if it were not for the very attentive staff of the Radison working vigorously all evening serving food, clearing plates and even cleaning an occasional spill. A special thank you goes out to Porchia, Becky, Kiril, Korri and John some of the many servers that helped make the “Porter Prom” a memorable and fun evening.
